GLASTONBURY HIGH SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIP

Name of Scholarship: Glastonbury Town Center Initiative Scholarship in memory of David Cox

Amount of Scholarship: $500

Scholarship Qualifications: To be awarded to a deserving student who offers creative and practical ideas about how Glastonbury Town Center might better serve the interests of teens and who exemplifies community service.

This scholarship award is granted by the Glastonbury Town Center Initiative and will be awarded to a graduating Glastonbury High School senior. The Board of GTCI will select the recipient who best meets the following criteria:

  1. An essay of 500 words or less that best describes what the business community, Town and others might do to make Glastonbury Town Centera more interesting place for teens. Considerations might include planning, design, transportation, culture, business, or other ideas.The winner grants permission for GTCI to send their essay to the Town Council for review, and to the Glastonbury Citizen for possible publication.
  1. Community Service – the award will be given to a senior who has dedicated substantial time and effort on a voluntary basis in service of the community, and supported GTCI sponsored events
  1. Scholastic Achievement – while grade point average will not be a factor, the recipient must be a committed student who will graduate and who intends to continue his/her education in either a pure academic or a technical undergraduate program.

  1. Page 1 of the Common Scholarship Application (on the GHS Scholarship web page), 2. Essay (500 words or less) and 3. Student resume. No financial information is required for this scholarship. Student will be featured on GTCI web and Facebook page.
